St. Patrick's Day celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland on the date he died in the Year 461. But did you know that he wasn't even Irish? He was born in Roman Britain, and as a child, was kidnapped into slavery and brought to Ireland. And even though he was credited with driving all the snakes out of Ireland, scientific evidence suggests there were never any snakes there in the first place, thanks to the Ice Age and the seas that surround the island. But I digress…
But historical data like this should never get in the way of a good celebration, right? Centuries later, there is no shortage of ways to celebrate this holiday!
These days, the holiday has taken on new imagery of little green men defending their pots of gold at the end of a rainbow. You might be familiar with the legend of Leprechauns and their magical abilities, but I bet you did not know these 10 little known “facts” about Leprechaun lore.
While you won’t find me chasing any rainbows this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, I might find my way to one of the many events that downtown Sarasota has planned to commemorate the occasion. If you would like to know more about this weekend’s planned festivities, click here!
Whether you decide to chase a rainbow, or simply wear green so you don’t get pinched, the SRQ Wealth team wishes you a fun and safe holiday!
