If you’re a fan of craft beers, you probably know that craft brewing is taking the industry by storm. Small, independently operated breweries are popping up all over the country and you can find a few right here in our very own back yard. Just this past month, 3 Keys Brewing opened its doors on State Road 64 in Bradenton, joining two other local breweries that opened this year, Little Giant Brewery and Naughty Monk Brewery. David and I had the opportunity this month to visit and tour one of the most successful craft breweries in the area, Motorworks Brewery, located in downtown Bradenton.

Established in 2014, Motorworks is housed in an historic building that was originally a car dealership that opened in 1923. The building still boasts the original ramp that was used to pull cars from the show floor up to the mechanic’s garage on the second floor. The entire warehouse is now home to a number of large brewing tanks that produce a laundry list of local beers that are fast gaining popular appeal.

The brewery’s greatest feature is its beer garden: the largest in Florida, in fact! This outdoor seating area and deck surrounds a massive oak tree that provides ample shade in the hotter months.    Guests can enjoy playing a number of free games, like corn hole, jenga, and even a 3-hole putting course. This time of year is perfect to visit, as comfortable outdoor temperatures have arrived and local cover bands provide entertainment in the evening.

One of the most innovative features of the Motorworks experience is the food, which is entirely supplied by a number of local, independently owned food trucks that pull up to the beer garden daily. This partnership with local food truck owners allows the brewery to focus on the one thing it does best: brewing its famous craft beers.

The spacious indoor taproom boasts a large seating area, lengthy bar, and several TV’s to watch “the big game!” Not surprisingly, the taproom also serves as the brewery’s “test market” for its newest creations. If a new brew is successful in the taproom, it may very well make its way to the shelves of your local grocery store. Motorworks’ distribution has now spread across the entire state in just over two years of operation and now reaches every county in Florida!

Motorworks Brewery is a perfect place to plan your next get-together or just to stop by and catch up on the next big sports event while cozying up to the bar. We both had a memorable experience visiting Motorworks Brewery, and we know you will too! You can schedule a tour or event by giving them a call, or check out their website at motorworksbrewing.com!
