Did You See The Sunday Herald-Tribune?

I was humbled to learn that the Sarasota Herald-Tribune wanted to do an article on SRQ Wealth after learning that we made a gift to the Season of Sharing on behalf of our clients. Little did we know that they would put us on the front page of the Sunday paper!  Click here to check it out.

Here’s the backstory…

For years, we would think of ways to thank clients with gifts of pies at Thanksgiving, beach towels on July 4th, chocolates on Valentine’s Day or a plethora of other seasonal gifts.  These were all well-received, but it dawned on us that while we were doing things for our clients, they were busy doing good things for our community.

Building strategies to help successful people solve their basic financial conundrums and be able to look to their passions is one of the most rewarding things we do for clients. Helping them understand that they can be charitable (if they are so inclined) and how best to do it (for their families and for their communities) is a core belief of our firm.

So it was about time we ate our own cooking. At a partner’s planning meeting, we came up with the idea to consolidate our gift giving and, rather than buy pies or beach towels, make a gift that mattered.  With Karin’s work on many local boards, she was familiar with the Season of Sharing and its mission to prevent homelessness - a cause everyone can rally around. It was a great idea and new SRQ Wealth tradition was started.

It was a simple gesture, but the response has been amazing. The Community Foundation wrote letters to many of our clients letting them know a donation was made in their honor. Even prior to yesterday’s article, clients have called and written thank you notes to express their gratitude.  Many have even commented that they were glad we didn’t deliver them a pie…more calories they didn’t need!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to both teach and learn from our clients about the gift of “giving back.” Is it often said “It is better to give than receive.” For us, no truer words were ever spoken.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at SRQ Wealth.
